John joined what is now Aquilant Endoscopy in October 2011 as General Manager for the business. After 12 months he then took on the wider remit of Managing Director of the Aquilant Medical business until taking full responsibility for the Aquilant Division in October 2013. John has worked in the medical device industry for 25 years and prior to working with UDG Healthcare, John was Managing Director UK & Ireland for Molnlycke Health Care. Before joining Molnlycke, he spent 10 years with Smith and Nephew. John’s early career focused on Sales, Marketing and Training before moving to more commercial and leadership roles within the industry.
PJ Owens FCA
PJ joined Aquilant in 2014 as Finance Director, and has also recently taken on responsibility for IT & Procurement. Prior to joining Aquilant, PJ held the position of Finance Director of United Drug Republic of Ireland, a subsidiary of UDG Healthcare which was acquired by McKesson in 2016. Prior to joining UDG Healthcare in 2006, he worked for 5 years in Australia in the insurance industry with Suncorp PLC, and KPMG in Dublin. PJ is a qualified chartered accountant.
Scientific – Managing Director
Roy is the Managing Director for the Aquilant Scientific business's in Ireland. Roy originally worked for Vector Scientific in Northern Ireland, joining them in 1992 before being acquired by United Drug in 1995. This along with experience working with Coulter Electronics means he has well over 30 years' experience in the laboratory supply industry.
Distribution – Business Unit Director
Wendy is currently Business Unit Director for Aquilant Distribution, with responsibility for operations in the Republic of Ireland. Wendy has worked with the division for the past 27 years, and has held several senior roles within the business as it has grown, including Head of Finance and Operations in the UK and Republic of Ireland. During that time she has had responsibility for the integration of many of our acquired businesses to date.
John joined Aquilant in 2010 to head up the Interventional Cardiology business in the UK. Since then, he has progressed within the organisation and was appointed as General Manager responsible for a number of our businesses in the UK and Republic of Ireland in 2013. Prior to joining Aquilant, John had spent almost 20 years in the medical industry holding a number of positions including sales, marketing and management, first in the IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic) market before moving to the medical device sector where his main focus was Cardiac Rhythm Management with Sorin where John was Sales Director.
Head of HR
Seán has been with Aquilant since 2013. Prior to his appointment as Head of HR in October 2016, he held the role of HR Business Partner for Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Seán has been with UDG Healthcare since 2006 where he has held several HR roles in its United Drug division. Prior to joining UDG Healthcare Seán held roles in State Street and the Office of Public Works. Seán is a chartered member of the CIPD.
UK – Head of Operations
As head of Aquilant's UK Operations, Phil heads up the operations team at our facility in Basingstoke. Having joined Aquilant in 2004, Phil has held various positions in Aquilant more recently heading up our UK operations which includes, Customer Services, Supply Chain & Tenders teams in the UK. Phil also has the additional responsibility for key areas around e-commerce for Aquilant. Phil has over 20 years experience in the med tech industry holding several management roles within the supply chain area.
Head of Quality, Compliance and Marketing
Bruce joined Aquilant in 2010, where he is now responsible for Quality, Compliance and Marketing. His focus is ensuring delivery to regulatory needs, industry codes of practice, risk management and continuous improvement projects. Bruce previously held roles as Head of Customer Services UK and later as Divisional Compliance Officer and Business Improvements. Bruce has 24 years of leadership experience and prior to joining Aquilant, where he held roles with Gilbeys Distillers & Vintners (Diageo), and ABSA Bank and Standard Bank in the Financial Services industry (South Africa). Bruce has a degree in Bachelor of Commerce Marketing and holds a Lean 6 Sigma qualification (Green belt).
Business Unit Manager
Andy joined Aquilant in 2010 as a territory manager in the Interventional Radiology team in the UK. Since then, he has progressed within the organisation managing the Medical team from its inception and then moving back into the Interventional business in 2015, where he is now the business unit manager. Prior to joining Aquilant, Andy has worked in sales, marketing, business development and management roles since leaving University in 1996. He began his career in industrial sales and then moved into Medical sales over 19 years ago. He has experience in IV, endoscopy, theatre, radiology and critical care markets, selling both consumables and capital equipment.
Business Unit Manager
Damien is the Business Unit Manager for our Medical Equipment Division and has over 24 years’ experience in medical devices. During that period, he has represented key equipment & consumable manufacturers in the medical devices & decontamination sectors. He originally joined Ulster Anaesthetics in 1994 as a Field Services Engineer before moving to Intraveno Healthcare in 1997. Following the acquisition of Intraveno by United Drug in 2002, Damien has held several roles including Technical Services Manager for NI & ROI.
Business Unit Manager
Joe is the Business Unit Manager for Aquilant’s Scientific business in Ireland. Over the 15 years Joe has worked with the organisation he has held a number of sales and managerial positions. Prior experience has been gained from working with several scientific distribution companies which served industrial, life science and clinical diagnostic sectors. Having 24 years involvement in the business enables Joe to be familiar with several scientific markets.
Business Unit Manager
Mat joined Aquilant Endoscopy in October 2009 as a Territory Manager. In 2012 he was appointed as Regional Business Manager for the South of the UK. Since then he has held various commercial leadership roles until taking overall responsibility for the Endoscopy and Critical Care business' as Business Unit Manager. Prior to working at UDG Healthcare Mat was a Business Development Executive at GlaxoSmithKline and before Glaxo, Mat trained as a Sales Executive under a graduate program for an IT services company. Mat holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in combined life sciences.
